1950年代後半から今日まで、第一線を走り続ける写真家、篠山紀信。ヌードや都市風景、スターたちのポートレイトなど、次々と発表される写真は時に物議を醸し、彼の用いた「激写」は流行語にもなりました。驚異的なスピードとエネルギーで、テーマやジャンルだけでなく手法をも多彩に変化させながら、鋭い嗅覚で“いま”を撮り続けてきました。
その篠山が選んだ本展覧会のテーマは、ずばり、「アート」。新たに撮り下ろした当館コレクションのヘンリー・ムーアやカール・ミレス、ジュリアーノ・ヴァンジなど、野外彫刻の迫力ある写真が見る者に迫ってきます。篠山が正面から彫刻に挑んだ、まさに新境地の作品です。また、複数台のカメラを結合して撮影する篠山独特の手法「シノラマ」で撮影された写真を中心に、バルテュスや岡本太郎、草間彌生、森村泰昌など、これまで交流を重ねたアーティストやその仕事場の写真をダイナミックなスケールで展示します。これまであまり公開されることのなかった、篠山とアートの出合いを切り取った瞬間=“KISHIN meets ART”をお楽しみいただける内容となっております。

The Hakone Open-Air Museum is delighted to present Kishin Shinoyama’s photo exhibition “KISHIN meets ART”
Kishin Shinoyama is a photographer who has been at the front lines of his trade since the late 1950s. He has created a wide array photographs including nude photography, cityscapes, and celebrity portraits, which have at times created a stir in society. The term “gekisha” that he coined, which literally means spectacular photography, has become a vogue expression known to practically everyone in Japanese society. Shinoyama has not only been employing a broad array of themes and genres but also a diverse variety of changes in his techniques with astounding energy and speed as he continues to capture “this moment” with his razor-sharp instincts.
The theme that Shinoyama chose for this exhibit is art. He has created new images of open-air works which comprise our collection by masters such as Henry Moore, Carl Miles, and Giuliano Vangi that speak out to the beholder with a great sense of power. These art photographs are new to his usual line of work and they have given him a good head-on challenge. The exhibition also focuses on dynamic images which have been taken using “Sinorama”, Shinoyama’s unique technique of connecting multiple cameras, along with photographs of Balthus, Taro Okamoto, Yayoi Kusama, Yasumasa Morimura and other artists with whom he has had interactions as well as images of their studio. We hope you enjoy “KISHIN meets ART”, the moments captured between Shinoyama and his encounters with art that have rarely been offered to the public in the past.

展示構成
篠山紀信が撮り下ろす、初めてのオープン・エア ミュージアム
彫刻の森美術館に展示されている彫刻作品。ヘンリー・ムーアをはじめ、エミール=アントワーヌ・ブールデル、カール・ミレス、ジュリアーノ・ヴァンジなどの当館を代表する野外彫刻の数々が、四季折々の箱根の大自然と調和しながら展示されています。 ＞＞続きはこちら
篠山紀信 Kishin Shinoyama
1940年東京生まれ。日本大学芸術学部写真学科卒業。在学中に広告制作会社ライトパブリシティに入社、68年フリーとなる。
66年日本写真家批評協会新人賞。73年『女形・玉三郎展』で芸術選奨文部大臣新人賞。76年ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレ日本館で個展「家」を開催。80年『135人の女ともだち』で毎日芸術賞など次々に多くの賞を受賞し、その活動は常に社会的な話題を提供し続けてきた。人物写真では三島由紀夫、山口百恵、宮沢りえ、ジョン・レノンとオノ・ヨーコなど、時代を代表する人物を撮り、「激写」や「シノラマ」など新しい表現方法と技術で、時代を切りとっている。また、バルテュスやイサム・ノグチ、横尾忠則など数々の現代芸術家のポートレイトも手がける。近年はデジタルカメラで撮影した写真と映像の新しい表現「digi+KISHIN」を展開。2012年より熊本市現代美術館をはじめ、日本全国の美術館にて『篠山紀信展 写真力 THE PEOPLE by KISHIN』が巡回している。
Born in 1940, Tokyo, Japan. Photographer.
Beginning his career while studying in department of photography in Nippon University, he won the Advertising Photographer's Assosiation Award and other prizes.
After working in the advertising company; Light Publisity, he started to work as a freelance photographer from 1968. His work is renowned for taking portraits of the most recognized people of our time such as, Momoe Yamaguchi, John Lennon&Yoko Ono and Rie Miyazawa. In his "Gekisha" and "Shinorama" pieces, he keeps capturing the time with new modes of expression and new technologies. With his recent multi-media project; digi+KISHIN, all done digitally, he brings a new perspective to the both fields of photography and motion picture.
