"Japanese Landscapes - Japanese Waza " From Collection
2016.2.20(Sat)〜2016 Early September
Green Gallery

n The Hakone Open-Air Museum, we collect works of Japanese art. At this time, we mainly introduce wood carvings and Japanese paintings which depict landscapes of Japan. We will also be exhibiting various other works such as metalwork, glass art, and calligraphy. We believe these exhibits in our collection will give you a full appreciation for Japanese Waza (traditional Japanese craftsmanship).
In the wood carvings exhibit, you may enjoy viewing "Seven Hot Springs in Hakone" by Hiroshige Utagawa from the end of Edo's era. You may also veiw works by Hasui Kawase and others who've expressed Japanese style landscapes and rich lyricism from the Taisho era and the Showa period.
In addition, we show a metal carving work by Yoshiyuki Chosa, and a glass art work by Toshihisa Iwata. Furthermore, we show calligraphy works by Shoko Suzuki and Shunso Machi .We also show a calligraphy work by Otei Kaneko who has proposed calligraphy of modern poems.
Finally, please enjoy an unique specialty by Minami Tada, who is well known for making various stainless sculptures using graceful abstract modeling techniques.
