当館のコレクションには、見る人が思わず引き込まれるような作品が数多く存在しています。時にその意外性に、なぜこの作品が彫刻の森美術館にあるのか、という鑑賞者の声を聞くことも少なくありません。本展では、そのような作品群の一部を紹介します。作家の国籍や技法、形態も様々な27点の作品はそれぞれに豊かな個性を湛え、コレクションの奥深さを物語っています。
また、アートホールにおいては「名作展」も開催中です。多様性のある本展とアカデミックな名作展。この二つの展示を見比べ向き合うことにより、今まで気づかなかった自分の内側の美意識を発見し、さらにご一緒の方とその発見を共有していただくこととなれば幸いです。

Our collection includes numerous works that possess a powerful attraction and we often hear remarks from mystified visitors who cannot understand why these works are displayed at The Hakone Open-Air Museum. This exhibition presents some of the works of this type. Created by artists from hailing from various countries around the world, they display diverse techniques and forms, each possessing a rich individuality, and demonstrating the depth of the collection.
At the same time, we are also holding a “Masterpieces Exhibition” in the Art Hall. Although these two exhibitions are very different, one showcasing diversity and the other academic masterpieces. We hope that by comparing the two, you will be able to discover a latent aesthetic sense you were previously unaware of and that you will share these discoveries with your companions.
